During the morning session, Manus will cover “12 Steps to a Screen-Worthy Script.” Eighty percent of writers fail on concept alone. This class covers the 12 most important things you need to do to ensure your concept and script will be screen-worthy, including doing your research, developing your hook, writing your natural story, creating great set pieces and subplots, and how to create compelling characters and dialogue. And you’ll learn how to create your own conflict/stakes graph (exclusive to No BullScript), which will ensure your story is compelling and cinematic!
For the afternoon session, he will discuss “Writing Successful Loglines, Query Letters and One-Sheets.” The logline and query letter are the first and sometimes only things writers are judged on. Manus has read more than 30,000 of them! This class will cover how to construct proper loglines, query letters and one-pagers, what to include and what not to include, the difference between loglines and taglines, what executives are looking for in each, and how to write ones that grab attention and sell.
Pitch/Story Consultations: He will also offer one-on-one consultations on pitches, story, loglines, one-sheets etc. from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm. These consultations are perfect for any screenwriter planning to attend Austin Film Festival and Writing Conference or any other opportunity to pitch projects as well as receive some coaching on their stories. Consults are available for $25 for 10 minutes and $50 for 30 minutes.
Please note, Danny will NOT be hearing pitches as a producer. He will only be offering coaching consultations on the screenwriters’ work.
